Umrah Visa Documents Checklist for Indian Passport Holders

Quick answer

For an Umrah visa from India you need: a passport valid at least six months with a clear scan of the bio page, a recent colour photograph on a plain white background, confirmed Makkah and Madinah hotel bookings with validated BRNs, a confirmed return or onward flight ticket, and medical insurance. Children need their own passport, photograph and visa. Every name must match the passport exactly across all documents.

Use this as your working checklist. Gather everything before you start the application — assembling documents mid-application is how details end up inconsistent.

Passport

  • Valid at least six months beyond the intended date of entry
  • At least two blank pages
  • Clear colour scan of the bio page, all four corners visible, no glare
  • Not damaged, and the machine-readable zone fully legible

Photograph

  • Recent — taken within the last six months
  • Colour, on a plain white background
  • Full face, looking directly at the camera, neutral expression
  • No shadows, no spectacle glare, head covering must not obscure facial features
  • Good resolution, not a photograph of a printed photograph

Accommodation

  • Makkah hotel booking with a validated Booking Reference Number
  • Madinah hotel booking with a validated BRN, if staying there
  • Booking name matching the passport exactly
  • Dates covering the whole intended stay with no gaps

Travel and insurance

  • Confirmed return or onward flight ticket
  • Medical insurance valid for the duration of the stay — usually bundled into the visa fee

Additional documents in specific cases

  • Children — own passport, own photograph, accompanying parent or guardian details, birth certificate where only one parent travels
  • Groups — a traveller manifest with details matching each passport
  • Host pathway — the host's Saudi identity or Iqama details as applicable
  • Existing medical conditions — a doctor's letter and prescriptions for medication carried

  5. 05Check your dates line upFlights, accommodation and intended stay should form one continuous, consistent plan.
